There are some unique hiking trails here in San Diego. Potato Chip Rock, Three Sisters Falls both come to mind. Eagle Rock, which we are going to today, is another one of them. The rock that looks like a soaring eagle is one of the very special rock formations that you can't see anywhere except here in San Diego.

I left early in the morning for the trailhead, which is less than an hour from downtown San Diego. The most exciting moment during this trek is probably the sunrise. It is always beautiful to look up in the dark sky, peering into space as it gradually transitions to morning with the rising sun.

Everyone gathered at the trailhead at 7 am to check the equipment and then started hiking. During this time in the brisk morning air, we ask each other how we have been for the past week. Starting from the peaceful forest and passing through the slightly sloping mountain area, you will reach the desert section in an hour. I feel very fortunate to be able to have such a diverse experience all at once, from forest to desert, even on a short 6-mile round trip.

This course is one of the challenging PCT (Pacific Crest Trail) that many hikers take on every year. From April to August, when the season starts, you can meet many other PCT challengers on any given day. You are surrounded by PCT signs everywhere. And since it is a famous place visited by many tourists every day, it is not difficult to meet other hikers.

Our hiking party arrived at Eagle Rock after a short trek of just over 2 hours. In front of us was the famed eagle-shaped rock formation at the top and nodded in agreement why it is called Eagle Rock. If you look at each one, it's amazing to see how the surrounding rocks come together and stand in such a beautiful shape. Standing next to them and taking a photo makes me feel proud as if we are one with the surrounding nature.

I then descended at the end of the day with a happy smile, once again humbly accepting the greatness nature that majestically stood all around me.
